Crystal Ball Reception - Tyler Turner

Posted by We Are DRE Monday, February 15, 2010

Jan. 14th was truly a day to remember. Along with all of the magnificent people that attended, both the meetings and the Crystal Ball Reception, Jan. 14th was a great milestone for the New D.R.E. Family. I have been involved with D.R.E. for three and half years now, and I can truly say that I am not only appreciative and happy of our growth as a group up until now, but I am also very excited about where we are going as a group and as a brand in the near future. D.R.E. has changed my life since I joined, but I have realized through my experience with this group that D.R.E. is going to continue to change my life and consistently challenge me to be a better entrepreneur and human being. I enjoyed working the Crystal Ball Reception with my fellow D.R.E. Members; it never seizes to amaze me how much we actually do grow as a team. We can come together, most of us from different coast of the country, and help put on a star studded event in Los Angeles for the Crystal Ball Reception. All I can say now is LETS GO GET IT!!! Lets not stop here at the Crystal Ball Reception. Lets continue to SHOW UP to SHOW OUT like true D.R.E. Members, because no one can stop us but OURSELVES. Thanks D.R.E. for everything.

The Crystal Ball Announcement Reception was an amazing event! Through my membership and participation in D.R.E., I personally was able to witness an idea become a reality. The night of January 14th was beautiful. So many people attended and enjoyed the really good food, music, fashion show, and custom cars. It was truly a night to remember. Congratulations to Mr. Farr and Daniel for having such a great birthday. I am very happy to have shared that night with the both of them and all of the other D.R.E. members who were there. I appreciate those who worked hard that night and I hope to see you again soon.

In addition to attending the reception, D.R.E. members were given the opportunity to sit in and watch BSAA Executive Members participate in Pitch the Player. It was a chance for me to observe how professionals present their business ideas and plans to potential partners, and I learned a lot from the feedback that was given to presenters by the panel. I am sure I could personally use what I learned in my future endeavors. Overall, I am very thankful for being a part of an amazing weekend that many people do not have the opportunity to experience.

The BSAA event this past January 14th in Los Angeles has profoundly impacted my experience with D.R.E. on several levels. With every event I have attended during my time as a member, I have been exposed to professionals that are operating at the top of their respective fields and students that are performing at the top of their classes. Since I have been a member, there have been many members and leaders alike that have come in to the group and left soon after. Through each of the events, each of the meetings that I have attended thus far, I couldn’t help but notice something different about the group of D.R.E. members that came out to Los Angeles. As I was sitting in on our Pitch the Player event, it hit me.

Every individual that took part in the business meetings, the Pitch the Player, and the celebration that night in L.A. were people who on multiple occasions made some significant sacrifice to SHOW UP to our events. Whether it was at our conference at Howard last spring or at our Gala at the Roosevelt Hotel in Los Angeles or at D.R.E. Day last semester in New York City, the members who took part in our event at Galpin and/or the retreat in Lake Tahoe have committed to showing up as a D.R.E. member.

In every instance throughout my time in L.A. during my Winter Break, one could notice the shift in our junior members and leaders from focusing on individual work ethic towards producing results as a group. For the first time, Khalid David, a junior leader pitched his business to a panel of executives that are THE top players in each of their fields. Khalid is one of the many examples of a member who has selflessly sacrificed, and as a result of that sacrifice was given an opportunity that only a few select individuals even know exists.

In the past there have always been individuals that have shown up, but there was still something different about how we showed up as a group this time. This event was the first time that each individual, and thus the group, has showed up CONSISTENTLY, showed up ON TIME, and showed up PREPARED to work and to serve. I am extremely confident in the leadership group we have going forwards towards maintain those standards. We’ve set the bar very high for 2010 and expect excellence in all that we do going forward. That was the most impressive aspect of the event at Galpin and what I always expect from myself and from D.R.E.

The night of January 14, 2010 was definitely one to remember. The most esteemed members of the BSAA and D.R.E. gathered in Los Angeles to celebrate the birth of not only our very own Andre Farr and Daniel Henderson, but of the new and improved D.R.E. organization. This weekend truly allowed each and every member to see, hear, and believe in the vision we strive to live by. We saw the faces we will one day do business with. We shared meals with those we can rely on for years to come. We celebrated as a family that will change the world as we know it.

If any member was unclear, before January 14th, of the mission and goals of DRE and the BSAA, it is clear now. I can speak on behalf of many DRE leaders when I say that we returned to our homes and universities exuding motivation and confidence in the New Year! The Crystal Ball, Pitch to Player, D.R.E. leadership meetings, and other events that took place during this unforgettable weekend, displayed the caliber of individuals that make up our organization. We ARE the leading professionals of our country, the brightest students of our universities, and the most innovative minds of our time. We are the future. We are D.R.E.

The Crystal Ball Reception on January 14th, 2010, was a magnificent milestone for both the BSAA and D.R.E. The event was hosted by the BSAA’s newest partner, Galpin Motors. Numerous BSAA executive members and D.R.E. junior leaders from around the country came to the Galpin Complex, located in Van Nuys, California. The event was packed with serious business meetings and business pitches, but at night both business executive and celebrity alike came together for wonderful food and entertainment.

The day started off at 7:30A.M. with myself and other D.R.E. junior leaders having intense back-to-back meetings talking about the new leadership of D.R.E. with Mr. Farr and other BSAA Executive Members at Galpin’s Horseless Carriage Restaurant. Next up was an intense session of Pitch the Player, a session where Executive Members pitched their ideas to a panel of BSAA Executive Leaders, which included Randal Pinkett, winner of the 4th season of The Apprentice.

With most the business done for the day, the BSAA hosted the VIP Reception which was held in the Galpin Showroom. Finally, it was time for the Reception. Flanked by Spykers and Aston Martins, special guests, who included Rodney “Darkchild” Jerkins, got to experience a high-energy fashion show. The models showed cased Jeff Hamilton’s premium leather jackets along with designer bathing suits.

To wrap up the night Mr. Farr got on stage and brought up comedian Chris Spencer along with a few others to speak about their experiences with Mr. Farr. After getting surprised with a birthday cake, the finale was ready to be revealed: Galpin Automotive Sports had created a custom car for the BSAA, the Presidential Lincoln MKT-X. The car exemplified the stature of the BSAA - bold and exclusive. The night’s festivities concluded with an after party with D.R.E. members DJ Wyze 1 (myself) and DJ Allure on the turntables.

The Reception was immaculate and had a great turnout. Even though the experience was exhausting, it was ultimately rewarding, fulfilling, and most of all, irreplaceable.
